Erasmus University Rotterdam is an international knowledge workshop for critical thinking and academic training, driven by a strong focus on current social issues. The university concentrates its expertise on issues of management, organisation and policy in the public and private sectors on the one hand, as well as on the field of sickness and health care. Erasmus University Rotterdam has bundled its education and research in three domains (link) in which the university has a national and international reputation to maintain:

  • Economics and Management;
  • Medicine and Health Sciences;
  • Law, Culture and Society.

The university counts as its core tasks: to generate knowledge from research, to share knowledge in education and to transfer knowledge to the community. Its driving forces are academic curiosity, critical reflection and social engagement.

CR Integration

Externally, it will be of key importance to what extent these issues will rise on the agendas of large corporations and companies. This will indeed affect our primary customer (the student) too as this will influence both enrollment and recruitment. We do see that this subject becomes of increasing importance indeed.the societal consciousness is growing, and we need to take our responsibilty as a school here. The increasing urgency of problems such as climate change is a case in point and a number of our undergraduate and masters courses address this issue. Internally, it will be of prime importance to find and retain good people/faculty. They will need to feel at home, feel their subject matter is indeed important to the school, be offered adequate salaries, etc. Our Business-Society Management department.
