The study was carried out by the International Interfaith Investment Group 3iG, along with ESADE Business School and Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School, and it highlights the results of an in-depth study of three religious organizations and their shareholder engagement practices.
The report provides insight in successful and unsuccessful cases of the Church of England, Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (UK) and the Missionary Oblates of the Mary Immaculate (USA) in their aim of changing company behaviour or society at large. According to the research, religious institutions can indeed influence corporate behaviour by being active in the ownership of their shares.
