Note to Investors: Energy Efficiency Measures Can Enhance Value of Real Estate Portfolios
This report sets out to accomplish two tasks. First, it seeks to assemble compelling arguments, findings and data supporting the investment and business case for energy efficiency in real estate. Currently, evidence supporting the value of energy efficiency is scattered throughout trade association, academic and practitioner publications. In bringing this evidence together, this report addresses challenges and presents a strong case for investing in energy efficiency.
Based on this business case, the report then provides investors with options and opportunities to begin reducing carbon emissions and mitigating climate risk in their real estate portfolios. These opportunities are presented in the context of a value proposition – that investors can address climate-related concerns while maintaining and enhancing the value of their real estate portfolios, whatever the composition of those portfolios.
