Biofuels in Europe: Some Legal and Corporate Social Responsibility Aspects

The “run on biofuels” extends well beyond the western industrialised nations. This has, in March 2007, been reflected in the creation of the International Biofuels Forum (IBF), a joint project of Brazil, China, India, South Africa, the US and the European Commission.

However, whilst the European Union is introducing mandatory biofuel targets for vehicles (see below), some commentators have questioned whether the increased use of biofuels is ecologically and economically sustainable.
