Although the main developments in the field of public procurement
seem to be concentrated in the field of Green Public Procurement, progress is also being
made on Socially Responsible Public Procurement (SRPP). The European
Commission is currently developing a guide, to be
published later this year, to support public authorities in taking into
account social considerations in their public procurement.
A recent report from CSR Europe highlights the trends mentioned above and provides insights into European policy making as well as national implementation of sustainable procurement into CSR action plans and strategies in two leading countries, the UK and Denmark. Furthermore, the report includes examples of government tenders including sustainability criteria.
