INSEAD
Dedicated Research Centres
Social innovation is the introduction of new business models and market-based mechanisms that deliver sustainable economic, environmental and social prosperity
The main theme of the Centre is “Building Businesses in a Global World”. Its vision is to make INSEAD the world’s leading business school for entrepreneurship by 2015.
Research actions
TNT & World Food Programme: not just award winning cases on private-non profit partnership, but also research that led to the creation of an executive programme for humanitarians

The school has multiple links with other business schools around the world, including health management initiatives with Vanderbilt and a close link with Wharton University and projects involving sustainable operations.

RESPONSE research project has pioneered new ways to embed responsibility and social leadership into teaching/executive education (e.g. with Microsoft)
What makes social entrepreneurship distinctive from commercial entrepreneurship or charity work?
In a world with deep problems and scarce resources, business model innovation is the most powerful tool of social entrepreneurs.
Managing a social oriented business poses unique challenges that have not been adequately addressed in strategy and organization theory. One such issue is the need to balance multiple demands on the organization, in particular the balance between economic and social goals.
Other Initiatives
