Accenture’s Raghav Narsalay and Anish Gupta argue that while reaching out to the poor in emerging markets has long been a laudable social goal, in India today, it also represents the biggest business opportunity of the coming decade. While a number of obstacles stand in the way, some manufacturers are finding ways to capture “inclusive growth” by reaching the lowest-income segments as both employees and consumers. “Inclusive innovation is sure to become increasingly important as all emerging markets begin to find ways to bring poor and rural people into their economies.”
