Sustainable Emerging Markets is the fifth in a series of ‘Responsible Investor Events’, which aim to bring top-level speakers from asset owners, asset managers and advisers together for targeted, practical discussion on pertinent themes of sustainable and responsible investment. The increasing shift of global institutional investors into emerging markets equities, bonds, real estate and alternatives - notably private equity and commodities – has been hastened by the financial crisis. Topics for discussion include:
  1. The growth of sustainable emerging markets investment: where and how is capital flowing?
  2. Sustainability research: how good is it and how can it feed into investment decisions?
  3. Why are sustainability/governance issues vital in emerging markets?
  4. Trends in equity investment: from unlisted to listed.
  5. New sustainability investment products.
  6. Bonds: new capital financing structures in developing countries.
  7. Impact Investing: a new wave of development capital.
  8. Microfinance: growing pains of a new institutional asset class.
  9. The commodities conundrum: returns or food/fuel riots?
  10. Experience matters: development agencies and seasoned sustainability-driven emerging markets investors.
